CORE is a non-verbal test designed to assess General Mental Ability (GMA) in recruitment settings.
CORE assesses General Mental Ability (GMA), which underlies how good we are at acquiring and applying new knowledge and skills. There is a close relationship between an employee’s GMA and their future success at work.
GMA provides an indication of the level at which an individual understands, reasons, learns, and solves problems. This ability is closely related to success at work and in learning situations.
CORE was developed using a category of advanced psychometrics models called item response theory (IRT), while the scoring is done using classical test theory.
CORE is based on the item format that best captures the g-factor, that is:
- Logical patterns
Logical patterns are designed to capture the most important aspects of GMA in predicting job performance. That is, the ability to see underlying connections, abstract relationships, differences in complex information, and to be able to identify points of similarity and to fill in gaps where information is missing. By using logical patterns, CORE has the advantage of a simple test design with limited need for instructions.
